WHERE IT ALL BEGAN

In 1992 I moved to Bournemouth from Yorkshire  and trained as a Lawyer then worked in criminal and family law for a short while.  For many years Alchemy in the New Forest was our family home and it holds many happy memories. 

 

I have been on various different trainings including Colour Therapy, EFT, Reiki and then trained to be an Art Therapist at IATE in London. I more recently trained as a Relationship Counsellor with Relate. I worked for over a decade as a Child Counsellor in private practice and feel very honoured to have done this work.

When training as an Environmental Art Therapist with the Art Therapy Centre in London I felt a calling to do sound healing work. It was on this training whilst working with another therapist in Highgate Wood that I had an epiphany to train as a Sound Therapist. I found Sheila Whittaker in Devon, who facilitated the Gong Practitoner Training and haven’t looked back since….

My affinity with sound began as a child when I learnt to play the piano and violin. Playing the gong and other sound healing instruments isn’t like playing traditional instruments and rather than technical skill, I think it is more about having a connection with the instruments and a sensitivity to the recipient. I allow healing energy to move through me and am guided to play in a certain way, much like reiki.

Life experience and these trainings have all led to this point and have helped mould Alchemy in the New Forest as it is today. We have grown from just a couple of people coming to sessions every week to a full studio and I have loved every moment.

 

LIVING IN THE PRESENT

I love working and am very grateful for my work to be my passion. I always want to keep learning and have recently taken up guitar lessons and am about to embark on a journey learning Kirtan with Nikki Slade. I see my purpose to just keep taking one step at a time towards what lights me up with my heart as the compass and currently I feel blessed to be working with sound and to work with my precious daughter Eleanor. My most  meaningful purpose is being a mother, nothing will come close to that!

We chose to call ourselves Alchemy which means magical transformation.  I love to support others in transforming their lives for the better. It is my mission to create the most sumptuous and luxurious experiences for all who enter through our gates. I want to provide an experience that I would want for myself, and I am committed to bringing peace, love, magic, and innovation to all our offerings. I am blessed to be able to hold space for people to take a break from responsibilities and to just be. I also love being a witness to other’s creativity in our art room and leading people into our nearby forest to connect with nature. I hope that at some point in the future I will be able to share my knowledge and experience and train others in sound healing so that its benefits will reach as many people as possible.
